Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the power industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 33% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 16% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Management Occupations with an 11% share in Q3 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in power industry accounted for 50% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Siemens, Schneider Electric, Amentum Services, Siemens Energy, and Bechtel Power. Together they accounted for a combined share of 50% of all future of work-related new jobs in the power industry.

Siemens posted 3,849 future of work-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Schneider Electric 1,385 jobs, Amentum Services 749 jobs, Siemens Energy 405 jobs, and Bechtel Power 319 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 51.65% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the power industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 51.65% followed by India (8.98%) and Germany (6.61%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 56.89% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
